Treasure Chest!

Wiki: Treasure Chest
Please refer to the wiki for latest changes.


Treasure Chests have a 2% chance of spawning on kill (Big Presents have 5% chance).

Once Treasure Chest is equipped
Chance for coin: 45%
Chance for dice: 5%

Coin Worth:
*Coin worth is dependent on whether the killer was the main player (5 Credits) or an assister (3 Credits).
*Random players picking up a coin receive 1 Credit while the owner receives the rest.

Example Situations:
1) Medic is healing a Heavy. Medic has treasure chest equipped. Heavy kills enemy and a coin is dropped because the Medic had the Treasure Chest equipped.
The dropped coin is worth 3 Credits because the Medic was the assister. If the Heavy picks up the coin then the Medic receives 2 credits and
the Heavy receives 1 Credit.

Yaaay revival of a Biggest Present-esque idea! Let us find common and uncommon trinkets in it, Fox! And backpack or deployable rolls!

  • Common trinkets
  • Credits
  • Dice
  • High chance of a cheap roll
  • Medium chance of a middle-priced roll
  • Low chance of an expensive roll
  • Rare chance of special rolls (Hulk, Instakills, Toxic)
  • Low chance of it being a trap.
    • Bad present type
    • Bad roll type

Some of my thoughts on what could be inside them.
Could be:
  • Only one of these ideas in a single treasure chest
  • Taken from a list, eg 1 roll, some credits and a dice in 1 treasure chest

Some of this stuff depends on how rare treasure chests and keys are. If you get say 1 in 5, then a trinket, even a common one, may be a bit much. Then again, if it's 1 in 1000, a common trinket might not be enough.

It's been suggested before as a fake dice idea, and the general consensus was that it'd just confuse everyone. Not sure what people would think of it as a normal roll (say taking the model of a random deployable).

I saw the word 'key' in context with treasure box, and thought that Fox had gone the way of the Valve.

Pay 200 credits to open the box. :p

Hasn't this been suggested tons of time just a little different?
Anyways, I'd like the treasure chest to be only with credits. It makes sense since its a TREASURE chest.

Here's my thoughts:

1. Chest spawns like a dice deposit; Keys spawn along with dice.

2. When you have a key you can hit the chest and a key will be consumed from your total.

3. Rewards for are given EVERY time you hit it with at least one key in your inventory.

Rewards:

Chance -------------- Result

90% ------------------ 10 credits
80% ------------------ 25 credits
70% ------------------ 50 credits
60% ------------------ 100 credits
50% ------------------ 1 dice
40% ------------------ 2 dice
30% ------------------ 3 dice
20% ------------------ 200 credits
15% ------------------ 300 credits
10% ------------------ 5 dice
  5% ------------------ 500 credits
  2% ------------------ 10 dice
  1% ------------------ 250 credits +5 dice

If you have keys you are notified of what you've received; if not you are told that you must find a key to open the chest.

I'm thinking on average you can get 1-3 keys per hour, depending on luck and finding them...this is probably also the easiest way to both code it and introduce it to new players since it's similar to the already easy to understand dice mining/finding system.

Also, if you don't like "hitting" the chest you could also make it your "use" key that activates it...and instead of spawning, maybe it just stays in each spawn the whole round in case you happen to discover a key mid-round and want to use it during your death.
